History: Wiki link here. I don't personally think it does a very good job, however. So, here:

Lucretia grew up on what is only referred to as a "two-sunned planet" and was a quiet, shy sort of person who liked keeping records and storytelling so much that she became a fairly well-known biographer at a young age. She was recruited by the Institute for Planar Research and Exploration (IPRE) to go on a mission with six other crew members to explore the other planes of existence on a ship called the Starblaster. The ship, and many other advancements made at the time, are mainly thanks to this planet locating something called The Light of Creation.
Lucretia was tasked with keeping a written record of everything that happened on what was supposed to be a 2 month mission, but, as they prepared to leave their plane, something went wrong. The Hunger descended upon her world and the Starblaster only narrowly escaped being consumed as well, instead ending up on a new planet in a new plane, where the crew set about trying to find where the Light of Creation had fallen, and to escape with it, again, one year later, before the Hunger could return and consume it.

The next 100 years went like that for Lucretia and the other Starblaster crew (Magnus, Taako, Lup, Merle, Davenport, and Barry). They arrive on a new world and spend much of their time learning about that world while looking for the Light of Creation. When the year ends, the barriers between the planes of existence get "wobbly", allowing the Hunger to come to that world in search of the Light, which it wants to consume. Each time, The Starblaster narrowly escapes the Hunger, sometimes with the Light, and sometimes without it. Over this time the 7 crew members become incredibly close. They go through some very difficult things together, and eventually come to view each other as family. During one cycle, they find a planet with creatures called Voidfish on them. Voidfish can consume information in any form and delete it from existence, as well as push that information out to the entire universe. Lucretia and Magnus save one of the voidfish (named Fisher) from destruction by The Hunger by bringing it aboard the Starblaster.

Toward the end of the 100 years, Lucretia begins to work on a plan for how to stop the Hunger once and for all. She learns a protective spell from Merle and works, using her knowledge of magic, to make it as strong as possible. Eventually, on their 92nd cycle, Lucretia tells her fellow crew members about her plan: to seal the world in a protective barrier so strong that the Hunger will not be able to reach it. This would keep the Light of Creation and everyone on this planet from being consumed. However, it would also mean severing that world's bond to the rest of the planes and slowly killing it. Lucretia was unaware that Lup and Barry were also working on a plan, which involves taking the Light of Creation and breaking it into 7 parts, and hiding them in the form of artifacts all over the planet so that the signal  it gives off (it's "crave-ability") will be too weak for the Hunger to find it. Lucretia is outvoted, and the crew decides to go with Lup and Barry's plan.

On their 100th cycle, the crew finds a plane very similar to their own and decides to enact their plan. They make artifacts from the Light and call them Grand Relics, then they hide them in different locations all over the world. Soon, however, it becomes clear that the "crave-ability" of each relic is causing conflicts between different groups, and the relics are powerful enough to cause large-scale destruction when in the wrong hands. Lucretia sees her family members growing increasingly unhappy with what they've done to this world, so, in secret she begins to feed the information about their 100 year journey to Fisher, erasing what occurred from existence, and from the minds of all her friends. Eventually, every member of the crew forgets everything about their journey except Lucretia. To protect her friends from their guilt over what they've done, and to allow them to start over, she separates them and takes them somewhere to start fresh, with only the memories of their pre-IPRE lives that she's left in tact.

Then, on her own, Lucretia goes in search of the Grand Relics. She recovers the Relic she made herself--the Bulwark Staff-- without problems, but when she nearly dies trying to retrieve a second relic, she decides she needs help. So, she forms the Bureau of Balance. The Bureau is an organization that exists on a moon-base, which employs researchers, Relic re-claimers, regulators and others to help her locate and retrieve the rest of the grand relics. However-- this also doesn't work. Every reclaimer she sends out to get a relic becomes corrupted by their desire to keep the relic for themselves. In this time, Fisher has a baby. Lucretia now has two voidfish. So, she decides to locate Taako, Magnus, and Merle, to bring them into the Bureau, where she can inoculate them with the Voidfish's icor so that they will remember just enough to know about the Grand Relics and to be able to help retrieve them, while Lucretia uses the other voidfish to keep them from remembering everything else that she took from them, including their 100 year journey and the other members of their crew.

At Lucretia's canon-point, she believes that Magnus has died on their most recent mission to retrieve one of the relics, and she has just found Taako, Merle, and Angus McDonald (boy detective) in her private quarters, having inoculated themselves with the baby voidfish's ichor. They are just starting to remember everything she made them forget, and she is trying to explain herself, when she is thrust into Hadriel.

Personality:

Lucretia begins her journey as a quiet, shy, loner with no close connections to anyone. She prefers to keep to herself, and hangs back when things get harry. She would rather write about other people's feats of heroism than to perform such feats herself. Eventually, with the nature of the 100 year journey being so dangerous, she becomes very close to her fellow crew members and cares deeply for their safety and happiness. This eventually leads to a huge shift in Lucretia's personality. She stands by and watches less, she takes action more.

Lucretia: I want you to understand, my whole life I dedicated myself to the study and the service of other people’s discoveries, of other people’s adventures. I was a supporter. But one day I made the decision to… stop championing other people’s heroism and to take the direction of my life into my own hands. And I lost dear, dear friends because of that decision, but it was the only one to make.

A real turning point for her is during the 100 year journey, a cycle in which, almost immediately, every member of the crew is turned to stone, effectively killed. This leaves Lucretia alone on the Starblaster with one year to find the Light of Creation, and fly the ship out of this plane at the right time, a so that everything can reset and she can have her friends back. She has to learn how to fix the ship as well as pilot it, and she has to stay clear of the tyrannical government that killed her friends, all while looking for the Light. At the end of that year, she succeeds and everyone is brought back, and they notice that Lucretia has changed. She is much more capable now, and much more aware of her own abilities. The Lucretia they knew when they first boarded the Starblaster together is incredibly different from the Lucretia who heads the Bureau of Balance as "Madam Director" and this is the year that really changes her.

At her canon point, Lucretia's main motivation is as it has been for the decade she has headed the Bureau. To find the relics, combine them into the Light of Creation so she can cast her protection spell over this plane to stop the Hunger, and finally, finally get her family back. She is pretty single-minded as far as that goes. She's also a pretty strict leader who keeps much of herself hidden from her employees. She is by no means cruel or disinterested in their lives, but she doesn't want to get too close to any of them, as it might become a distraction from her goal. She especially doesn't want to get too close to Taako, Merle and Magnus, for fear that they will find out how much she is hiding from them, but there are times when it's clear that she fears greatly for their safety and desperately wants them to trust her. And, even as she closes herself off, it is obvious that the parts of her personality she tries to hide includes a sense of humor that is attuned to Taako, Magnus and Merle, and she's very good at bantering back and forth with them. Her serious demeanor does occasionally break and you can see her fondness for her former crew members come through, just for a moment.

Lucretia: Robbie as been thrown into the brig. We're gonna keep an eye on him for a while.
Taako: Is it 'cause he loved Pringles too much? Did he pop and then neglect to stop?
Lucretia: Hey, if that's a crime, we all deserve to be thrown in the brig, right?

Inventory:
The Bulwark Staff, a magical staff created by Lucretia, imbued with Abjuration magic. The Bulwark Staff is a Grand Relic, and at this point in canon has absorbed all 6 other grand relics inside of it, so it is quite powerful, however its power is mainly meant to be channeled into one protection spell that she has no reason to use in Hadriel. She is wearing a set of long, ornate robes, which is her usual attire.

Abilities:

  • Intelligence: Lucretia is a very smart person. She knows 8 languages, and is ambidextrous--so she does all her journaling in two journals at once. Other than that it is simply stated that her intelligence is "much, much, much, much, MUCH higher than 3."
  • Magic: Not a lot of specifics are known about what specific magical abilities Lucretia has, other than that she specializes in Abjuration magic and is a powerful, highly competent magic user.
Flaws:

This may seem fairly obvious based on the above. While Lucretia believes she has a very good reason for everything she's done, the actual actions she has taken can easily be seen as incredibly cruel and careless. When we encounter Taako, Magnus and Merle, they have only the memories of their early childhoods and those of the decade they've spend in this plane. This leaves a huge chunk of their lives, their abilities and their personalities completely forgotten. Taako, for example, has forgotten that he's spent his life with his twin sister, Lup, and he believes he learned magic to help with his cooking show--because he can't remember that both he and Lup were incredibly accomplished wizards hand-picked to go on an important mission for IPRE on their home planet. This is nothing compared to what she takes from Davenport, her former Captain. His life was so intertwined with the IPRE mission that she has to erase nearly everything from his memory, leaving him mostly able to only say his own name.

And Lup and Barry, who turned themselves into Liches on their journey, are viewed by her as a threat to her plan, as they can remember everything she made them forget when they are in Lich form. Lup disappeared before Lucretia enacted her plan to make them forget, but Barry she spends time hunting down, and when he tries to make contact with Magnus, Taako, and Merle in his lich form, Lucretia invents a story about evil red-robed wizards who created the relics and should never be trusted.

She is also lying to every member of the Bureau about what is being done with the relics when they are recovered. She tells all of them that the relics are being destroyed, when in reality she is absorbing them into her staff so they can be used to complete her plan. So-- Lucretia's main flaw is her single-minded belief that her plan will work, that it is the only thing that will work, and that she will let nothing and no one stand in her way of enacting it. While her goal is ultimately to save their plane of existence from the Hunger and recover her family, the way she goes about it can be seen as uniquely callous and worthy of disdain. She knows this, and she does it anyway.
